I don’t always get it right.
I keep saying to my kids that they have choices and it’s their responsibility to choose right. Their power is their responsibility.
The same goes for me. I know that each day is made up of choices… I have the choice to hang on to the things that really matter or let them pass by in the midst of chaos.
It has been a lot going on. A lot of emotions, a lot of energy, a lot of activities, a lot of things we want to do… need to do… days are so full.
How easy is it to let the important stuff slip through sometimes because we are so busy??
Yesterday I was tired. I wanted to just lay down and read all day. My to-do list was calling my name… my kids were calling my name… and because we are leaving for vacation this week there are things that need to get done. So I muddled through… thinking about my bed and how I was going to just lay down and read when I get kids bathed and night snacks all done.
Right when it was time for me to hop into my fuzzy jammies and grab my book one of the kids came out and said, “Mom… do you think you would like to watch a show with me before bed?”
It was late… I was tired… but then I remembered that the days are made up of choices and this was one of those moments I should not let slip by.
I don’t always get it right. I really don’t.
The impact it made on our relationship and how important it was for the child is priceless. In reality it was one hour…
What I am seeing is I choose… and last night I chose the little guy who will soon be “too big” to hang out with mom. I chose him and us…
The to-do list will get done (it always works out) …
The alone time will come soon then I want…
The time I have with them… is limited. Today my child chooses me… maybe tomorrow will be different …
